Dedication of the first Habitat for Habitat for Humanity Home in Holliston on Saturday, November 18th.
Habitat for Humanity MetroWest Greater Worcester (HFHMWGW) is pleased to announce that they will be hosting a dedication of their first new home in Holliston on Saturday, November 18th. The festivities will begin at 10am and the public is invited to join in welcoming the Baptiste family to their new home at 68 Chamberlain St. Light refreshments will be served and parking is available on site.
The Habitat site on Chamberlain St. was donated by the Holliston Housing Trust to promote affordable housing. The Trust also contributed $150,000 toward the building of the two homes. The Baptiste family has invested more than 500 hours of “sweat equity” into their home which has been strongly supported by the community, attracting hands-on participation by more than 1500 MetroWest volunteers. In addition, J.P. Keefe Regional Vocational Technical School has partnered with Habitat to help build this house, providing assistance with plumbing and electrical work. The Local Project Committee (LPC) chaired by local residents Doug Schmidt and Todd Barber, has been raising funds to complete the project and construction is on-going at the second home, which will be dedicated in early 2018.
In addition to the outpouring of support from local faith partners, local sponsors of of the build include Wayne Griffin Electric, Middlesex Savings Bank, Realty Executives – Boston West, MathWorks, Joseph T.
