Farm Advisory Board Turns Attention to Farmhouse
Community Farm Advisory members Thursday night began the process of tackling structural problems at the farmhouse located at the farm on 34 Rogers Road. PJ Kilkelly, Chairman of the Friends of the Community Farm said that Mark Dellicker of Dellicker Construction has volunteered his services to help fix a cracked foundation. While that work is being done a handicapped accessible entryway will be installed. All costs for the project are being paid by the Friends of the Farm.
It was noted that Tim Drake recently volunteered his time and cut down the summer cover crop in the farm pasture. As part of their 100 year anniversary, the American Legion's Downtown Marigold Project will donate 100 peonies plants, 1000 daffodil bulbs, 300 lily bulbs and 50 reblooming iris rhizomes to the farm for fall planting. The plants when in bloom next spring/summer will be sold to raise funds for the farm.
The Friends will also be co-sponsoring the Annual Haunted Walk again this year with the local Lions Club. Tentative dates are October 26th from 6-9 pm and Sunday October 27th from 1-4 pm. More details as the event draws closer. The Friends of the Farm will also be sponsoring a Pig Roast which will include live music and fire pits on November 2nd at the farm. More about this fundraiser when this event pops on the radar.
