Tremendous Turnout for Tim's Trot
618 runners came out to support Tim's Trot this year. In its 9th year, Tim's Trot continues to raise funds for the Timothy O'Connell Foundation.
Tim's parents, Joanne and Kevin, and Madden (named for Tim's favorite video game) welcomed all the participants and spectators. Many of the participants were Tim's teachers and camp counselors who traveled a great distance to lace up for the Trot. Kevin highlighted that the "community has been very supportive since Tim got sick."
Kevin shared that since its inception the Foundation has raised over $1 million - and he added that he couldn't believe it when he learned that from their finance person. The proceeds of Tim's Trot and the other fundraisers the Foundation hosts each year go to support Leukemia research, Make-a-wish, Camp Sunshine in Maine (a special place that Tim enjoyed, the Jimmy Fund, and scholarships for Holliston residents who are studying in the health-related fields.
Seen here are the sponsors for the event. The money provided by the sponsors covers virtually all the expenses for the race so that the race entry fees go directly to the Foundation.
As race time drew nearer the crowd of entrants grew. Friends finding old friends to run / chat with.
Even dark sunglasses cannot hide this familiar Hollistonian and big supporter of Tim's Trot - Paul Saulnier. He acquitted himself quite well along the course.
Every runner was striving to reach the Finish line.
First to achieve that goal was Sasha Brown # 644. He completed the 1.9 mile course in 11 mins and 40 seconds. You can see from his lean into the turn at Washington and Prospect that he had a good head of steam heading up Holliston's version of Heartbreak Hill.
A close second (2 seconds behind Sasha) was Nathan Giordano # 231. It's good to have long legs!
