Rep. Dykema meets with local environmental advocacy group

Board of Selectmen 07/11/2017: Paint Gate and the Animal House

The Selectmen hosted a packed house at their weekly meeting on Monday night. Two trending issues in the town were the focus of the night’s discussion: the status of the animal nuisance complaints at 70 Lakeshore Drive and the state of Chamberlain St. in regards to the double-painted yellow lines.

First Annual Community Farm Day

This past Sunday was the second annual Community Farm Day at the Holliston Community Farm. Friends and family gathered on the farm grounds on Rogers Road for six hours of food, live music performed by The Hoot Owls, and a plethora of activities ranging from face-painting and hayrides to blacksmith demos and a nature walk.

Board of Selectmen Meet 06/05/2017

This week’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting started in a celebratory manner. Police officer Ken Belson was sworn in as a Sergeant of the Holliston P.D. by the board after going through an intensive interview process. Members of his family and fellow officers were there to congratulate him as he took an oath to continue to promote safety throughout the community.

Summit of the Local Powers (Selectmen meeting 5/25)

The selectmen from Holliston and four surrounding towns met at the recently renovated Thayer Homestead in Medway Thursday night. Representatives from Holliston, Medway, Millis, Hopkinton, and Ashland all gathered around the table to share potentially outstanding issues as well as explore how to better relationships between the towns.

The Giving Season

Braving snow, rain, and some brisk temperatures, DTC members stood outside Superette Supermarket every Saturday and Sunday morning between Thanksgiving  and Christmas ringing bells to solicit donations for the town’s food pantry.

To Pot or Not to Pot?

It’s green, a bit smelly, and can make people very hungry when consumed. It’s also on the ballot for this November. Question 4 on this year’s ballot proposes the legalization of recreational marijuana in Massachusetts. If passed, Massachusetts would become the fifth state to have it. It is one of eight states facing the same decision this November.

Board of Selectmen Meeting for June 15th

On Wednesday night, the Board of Selectmen, minus Kevin Conley, met with members of both the Golf Course Advisory Committee and the Agricultural Commission to hear updates on the two boards’ ongoing projects. Deborah Moore of the GCAC stated that the Pinecrest Golf Club has been successful and busy recently. A new aerator has been installed in the club’s main pond in an effort to reduce algae levels and they plan to discuss the renewal of their contract with Johnson Management...

Run For The Rails

This past Sunday marked the second annual Holliston Rail Trail 5k. The event, put on by the Friends of Holliston Trails, was sponsored by Griffin Electric, Roche Brothers, Encompass Fitness, Gateway Muscular Therapy and New Balance.

Rainy Day Remembrance

On this past Monday, Holliston was not graced with sun and blue skies for its annual Memorial Day parade. In fact it was gray and cold for most of the day. Even so, the weather did not keep the community from coming out in full to show its support for those who have fallen fighting for our country.
